Why did Southern states begin passing Jim Crow laws when Reconstruction ended? to hasten the withdrawal of federal troops from their territory to stop the widespread migration of emancipated slaves to the North and West to push emancipated slaves into the factory jobs needed to industrialize the economy to circumvent the requirements of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments

They passed the laws because they could. Reconstruction was over. The Federal troops were gone. So they did everything they could to keep former slaves in submission. They had to accept the amendments to get back into the US but they did everything the could to pretend the amendments didn't exisist
