okay, so what you need to do is make x on a side by it self because you want the answer to come down to X= answer. so to do this you must get rid of the 9 on that side. And that is perfectly okay to do as long as you do it to the other side as well.
so if you subtract 9 from x you must also subtract 9 from -15
