OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

How do I go about solving this? I'm not sure where I put things? http://prntscr.com/9puvki

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

You can factor tanx^2-1

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Than once you do that you have to set both parts equal to 0

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

But I can't factor it, can I?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Yes you can cause tanx times tanxis tanx^2 and than -1 times 1 is -1 and when you multiple the tan times -1 ans tan times 1 they will cancel so it will look like (tan-1)(tan+1)=0

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Ohhhh okay. so x = 1 or -1?

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Tanx will equal those so yes and since the values are between 0 and pi it will be dealing with quadrant 1 and 2 so you will be looking at the 45 degree angle and 135 degree angle

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

so pi/4 and 5pi/4?

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

wait no pi/4 and 3pi/4

OpenStudy (kayders1997):

Yes!

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

@kayders1997 Tried to another on my own. http://prntscr.com/9puz6h pi/3 and pi/2?
