Compare and contrast physical and chemical changes. Provide at least two similarities and two differences. Give examples of each and justify why they are examples.

@clamin the main difference between these two are that physical changes are any change that doesn't involve breaking or forming new bonds.

chemical changes are changes that result in bonds being broken and formed, resulting in a new compound. when A --> B Compound A has undergone a chemical change to become B.

Essentially, it's like this, if the compound remains the same after the change then it's most likely going to be physical.

Examples of physical changes are phase changes, boiling, freezing, etc.

if we take water right and we boil it and it becomes a vapor, gas, it's still water right?
same if we froze it.

If there's something like say a color change, that's also a physical change too.

Also, chemical changes involve this.

let's take for example oxidation, this means that metal is exposed to oxygen forms rust on the metal, and it becomes a different compound essentially.

also what if we had a combustion reaction or we had a reaction and say bubbles started coming out, those are chemical changes. our compound changes in this process because new bonds are being broken and formed.
