y – 0.7 = –2.2 y =

OpenStudy (mathmale):

What have you learned from the previous two problems that you could use here to solve for y? How would you isolate y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can sombody else help me not somebody that dosent make fun of my name

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

First step is to add 0.7 to both sides :)

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

\[y−0.7+0.7=−2.2+0.7\]

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

The left side cancels out since -0.7 + 0.7 = 0. The left side is left with y. \[y = -2.2 + 0.7\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

29.0

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

Nope, add: \[−2.2+0.7\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3.2

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

Nope, the answer would be -3.2 if the problem was to add: -2.2 + -0.7.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Actually, what you need to do is to "combine." It's true that 2.2+0.7 is 2.9, but that's not the problem given you. Instead: combine: -2.2 +0.9 ---------- ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13.0

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Determine whether that is reasonable or not. Does -2 + 1 equal approx. 13?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

guys i have timer can i just have the answer

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

An answer without an explanation is no good. You will not learn :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

la bo tau barot vinf bhikl

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Sorry, but no. The whole idea here is to help YOU solve your own problems. Giving out answers is against the rules. You'd save time by learning how to do these problems properly. Does -2+1 approx. equal 13? Yes or No.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i just i failed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank alot for your help

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Do not try to pin (blame) that on anyone else. Wendy and I stand ready to help you with examples and feedback. Skip the sarcasm.

i FAILD THE TEST I HAD A TIMER AND THAT WAS TO HELP MY GRADE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am failing math that was the only thing that could help me :(

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I'm truly sorry if that's the case. What could you do now so that next time you'll be better prepared?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

In the end it's what YOU do that will make the difference between your passing or failing.

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

@mathmale told you something that YOU can do to be prepared: You'd save time by learning how to do these problems properly.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not ask you to help know i am being held back

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am sorry i was just really mad

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Sorry, Confusedboy700, but I judge that to be a very immature response. You must take responsibility for your own learning. Wendy and I offered repeatedly to walk you through the steps necessary to solve these problems, but in the end you just asked for answers wtihout having demonstrated any understanding. This is not acceptable and is not helping you. Cool off, change your attitude and come back when you're ready to learn.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i said i am sorry

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Thank you; I accept your apology. Why not take a break, think things through and then come back willing to learn and practice. I'd be happy to help you, and am sure Wendy would also.

OpenStudy (wendy.ivette11714):

Yes, I would be delighted to help you :)
