In fission reaction of Uranium, for instance, two daughter nucleus and neutrons are formed. Neutrons hits next Uranium atom and cause fission. In a reactor, Cadmium or Boron rods Absorb excess neutrons and fission is under control. Without rods, too many neutrons are Available for fission.
