What is the solution to the equation?
3q + 5 = –2q + 20
A.
q = 3
B.
q = 5
C.
q = 15
D.
q = 25
OpenStudy (aihberkhan):
Okay first step is to subtract 5 from both sides! When you do that you should get
\(3q = –2q + 15\)
OpenStudy (aihberkhan):
Next you should add \(2q\) from both sides!
When you do this you should get \(5q = 15\)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Why subtract the 5 first other than the other numbers? Just curious
OpenStudy (aihberkhan):
You don't have to subtract that first. I just did. :)

Lastly divide 5 on both sides. So \(5\) divided by \(5\) is 1. What is \(15\) divided by 5?

3
OpenStudy (aihberkhan):
Right! So \(q = 3\)

Awesome Job! Any questions? @LoveIt
