OpenStudy (bookworm14):

Find the area of an equilateral triangle with radius 2root3 m. Leave your answer in simplest radical form I got 15.57 am i close?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

15.57 looks good!

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

@ganeshie8 would you consider that simplest radical form? or is my answer good like that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

definitely not i can't help because i do not know what the radius of a triangle is, but my guess is this has been cooked up so that you get something simple in any case not decimal form

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

equilateral triangle is a regular polygon for regular polygons, radius is defined as the distance between center and any of the vertices

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

the radius is \[2\sqrt{3}\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there an easy formula for the area given the radius or do we have to start from scratch?

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

I have to solve for the area using (1/2) * (apothem) * (perimeter)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am so ignorant of geometry i should shut up, but i am almost 100% positive that the answer you got as a decimal is not in simplest radical form
