I'm trying to five the value of a, but I'm not sure how. http://prntscr.com/9r4vf6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a + 3 = 2a - 14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know how to continue?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Alright, for this problem you have to get 'a' to one side since it is unknown, by itself. Now, in order to do so, we need to cancel out '2a', but what we do to one side we have to do to the other to balance out the sides, so what can you do to '2a' that cancels it out or drops it down to 0?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

@Kikuo What do we do to get rid of '2a' or make it a zero?

OpenStudy (kikuo):

@Ghostgate @akemitan Yes, I got 17.

OpenStudy (kikuo):

@akemitan Also, I'm sorry I didn't award you a medal. I didn't know you could only award one at a time.

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

So you understood how to solve it? Or do you still have questions? I'm glad I could help in the not-so-helpful way, but have a great day! {---Ghostgate---}
