OpenStudy (13ziar):

HHEELLPP!!!!! If you add liver, boiled liver, apple and potato to hydrogen peroxide which will react the most and the least and why?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

@imqwerty @aaronq @ganeshie8

OpenStudy (13ziar):

please help

OpenStudy (aaronq):

What reaction is happening?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

i dont know i dont think that we need to know about that for sure from what we learnt in lesson

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i'm sure you need to know.

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok

OpenStudy (13ziar):

so what is it?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

idk, find that out. i have no idea

OpenStudy (13ziar):

k

OpenStudy (13ziar):

2H2O2-->2H2O + O2

OpenStudy (13ziar):

It's fine i found out the answer.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

that reaction only involves hydrogen peroxide - its decomposition. i'm not sure that applies directly to the question as it's asking it's reaction with different chemicals. for example potato and apples are mostly starch, while liver has a huge diversity of moelcuels

OpenStudy (aaronq):

okay good, what was it?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

Liver contains more of the enzyme catalase, which breaks down hydrogen peroxide. Liver contains more because it detoxifies substances in the body. A larger amount of catalase lowers the activation energy, therefore speeds up the rate of reaction. The potato contains less of the enzyme catalase, therefore requires more activation energy, slowing down the rate of reaction.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

oh okay, i see what you meant the reaction was the same. good stuff

OpenStudy (13ziar):

thanks
