Comparing Jacob Lawrence to Vincent Van Gogh? I'm stuck on this one question in my Art class. I have to explain how I can determine the artist of a painting by describing their styles and techniques. This is what I've written so far for the painting by Jacob Lawrence http://www.ifpda.org/content/sites/default/files/imagecache/enlarged/artworks_by_uploader/141/Lawrence-ManOnScaffoldBig.jpg: The painting on the left is by Jacob Lawrence. The flat shapes and bold colors are distinctive characteristics that reflect his style. If you are familiar with Jacob Lawrence’s work it will be easy for you to spot his techniques. This is the other painting, by Vincent Van Gogh https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/21/Van_Gogh_-_Still_Life_with_Absinthe.jpg: Though I can very easily tell this is Van Gogh, Im having such a ridiculously hard time putting it into words. Both analysis' have to be like a paragraph I think. Any help?
