what i f(x)=(x-4)^2-22 in standard form? help please!!!!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Have you considered expanding the squared binomial?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i thought at first i had to maybe expand (x-4)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1st you do (x-4)(x-4) since it is squared. So doing that gives you x^2-4x-4x+16, and combining like terms gives you x^2-8x+16. So now all you have to do is subtract 22 from that. X^2-8x+16-22= x^2-8x-6

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Then ask yourself, it that "Standard Form" or is that something else?
