Question 21. Is there any bias in the survey question? Explian. What do you think would help students pay more attention in class? (2 points) Question 22. Suppose you are researching the eating habits of people your age. What sampling method could you use to fnid the percent of students in your grade who eat five servings of fruit and vegetables each day? What is an example of a survey question that does not have bias? (2 points)
I already answered these questions, but my teacher told me my answers where incorrect, and that I needed to redo them. Someone please help, I will fan & medal.
what survey
for number 21 i need the survey
In the question, not a survey.
for question n umber 1 what is the survey question
What do you think would help students pay more attention in class? (This is the survey question)
ok
what did u answer so i can tell u where u went wrong
@leozap1 r u there
Yes, this survey can contain bias. If a student is answering the question or someone related or friends with a student. They could then answer the survey to better fit them, rather than all of the students as a whole
That was my answer to the first question.
well it depends on wether the students were picked randomly or not
if that s all the info u have t
That is the full question.
ok
I believ ur statemnet was correct and the only thing i can think ur teacher couldve said u did wrong was that she/he wanted u to say the question was only asked to one person but the question doesn't specify that.
My teacher asked me to redo these two questions, so I must have done something wrong.
or mabeye they didnt like how u seperated the 2 last sentences or worded them
They could mean redo as in rewrite
How would I rewrite it to make more sense?
Actually i t6hink u should add to it that it could be bias because not all students have trouble paying attention
so write what u wrote accept make sentenbces 2 and 3 one sentence then add this at the end.
How about this?
Yes, this survey can contain bias. Depending on who the target audience for this question on, would reflect the type of bias given. If the survey is asking students, than they could answer it in a way to better suits them as an individual rather than the class as a whole. There is also the possibility someone answering the question already pays good attention, so the answer they give wouldn't benefit anyone.
perfect
Okay great thank you! What about the next question though?
This was my answer: How many servings of fruit and vegetables do you ear on a daily basis? Select only one answer. None 1 2 3 4 5 6+
for the next question u could say i would take a randomized systematic survey and ask every fith person who walks out the door of the school that is in your grade.
and for the second part an example would be ask evry fith person leaving a red sox game what there favorite flavor of ice cream is
If you need anymore help message me. Plus, don't forget to medal and fan.
Thank you! This really helps me.
no problem
There is ALWAYS bias in a survey question. Always. Your task as a survey guru is to mitigate the damage and explain the bias. You can eliminate SOME parts of SOME biases, but you can not play like you can remove ALL bias.
@tkhunny I was thinking the same thing, but I figure the question is just trying to ask the best way to avoid bias.
There is no "best way" to avoid bias. Bias is different for every survey, every questioner, and everyone surveyed. In designing a survey, you must recognize the bias and disclose it. For example, when putting multiple choices in a certain order, the later options tend to be picked much less frequently. The good researcher will produce many different version of the question and put the options in many different orders. This helps reduce the Question Oder Bias. Interestingly, some people will be offended by your question and give you the wrong answer on purpose. Pretty tough to defend against that bias.
Do you think my answer was good for what the question is asking?
You picked just one bias type. Find at least three.
