The belief in more than one god is polytheism. The prefix poly- means multiple, therefore people who believe in multiple gods are called polytheists. The belief in one god is monotheism. The prefix mono- means single, therefore people who believe in one god are monotheistic. Atheists are people who believe that god does not exist. A theologist someone who is learned in theology or who speculates about theology.
