jabez177 (jabez177):

What information does the atomic number of an element provide? A. the number of neutrons in one atom of the element B. the number of protons in one atom of the element C. the total number of electrons and neutrons in one atom of the element D. the total number of protons and neutrons in one atom of the element

jabez177 (jabez177):

Is it D, @Rushwr?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The atomic number is the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom, which determines the chemical properties of an element and its place in the periodic table. :D hope this helped.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Nop nop the atomic number gives you the no. of electrons only. Since we know that no. of electrons= no. of protons We can take the statements B as correct

OpenStudy (rushwr):

The no. of protons + the no. of neutrons = mass number So the statement D is correct if they have asked about the mass number !

jabez177 (jabez177):

So it's D or B?

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Since they have asked us about the atomic number it would be B

jabez177 (jabez177):

Thanks :)

OpenStudy (rushwr):

No problem :)
