A front yard is drawn on a coordinate grid, as shown. The line represents the façade of a house. The owner wants to build a fence that is perpendicular to the house and runs through (6, 5). Which line represents the fence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello! can you help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No he's just spamming stuff But I can Can you post the line and/or picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because I really can't do anything without that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry my computer is really slow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so what is the slope of the current line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well what is slope? Rise/Run right? So count how many the line goes down in a run of 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Close

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 Because it is going down right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=3x+23?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3 my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm as the answer or as the equation of the line? BEcause that isn't correct for either

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just look at the slope of that line for now k? -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now it is a fact in math that if you want a line to be perpendicular there has to be another line with an OPPOSITE SIGN and it has to be an INVERSE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So for example if I want a line to be perpendicular to a line with a slope of 2 it needs to have a slope of -1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rise/run

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you maybe just give me the the answer? i just want to pass this test already
