It was dry, not all plants survived, this in turn led to low profits and obviously, there was a lack of plant growth. Also, fires were common, lack of water, and it was hard to protect crops. Lots of prairie grass, which plows could not cut through, cattle would often destroy crops. Lack of water led to lack of crops which led to lack of money which led to lack of food which led to an unsustainable life in the plains
