Discuss Compton Effect
Compton Scaterring
EM radiation acts as a particle with momentum. Photon collides with an orbiting election and there is a transfer of momentum and energy from the photon to the electron. After collision the photon has a longer wavelength and small frequency than before the collision. The photon changes direction in accordance with a theory which treats the electron-photon as billiard ball dynamics.
okay
can you derive the equation? @Farcher
I can but the Hyperphysics website has it in a more legible format. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/quantum/compeq.html#c1
please look at my tutorial on Compton effect: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/55b9f251e4b0adef802baf39
Thanks @Michele_Laino I almost forgot that you had given one! :D I will read it thoroughly and ask if you if I have any doubts.
@Farcher Thank you so much for your effort, will read it and let you know if I face any difficulty
@Michele_Laino I am sorry note to have cited your paper but I did not know it existed.
no problem :) @Farcher
