PLEASE HELP! The passage below was written by Thomas Paine in his 1776 pamphlet, "Common Sense." The powers of governing...in the hands of the king...himself such an...enemy to liberty...is he...a proper person to say to these colonies, YOU SHALL MAKE NO LAWS BUT WHAT I PLEASE. Read the passage. What is the author asking the reader? Do you love liberty enough to govern yourself? Why do you bother to subject to the wishes of the king? Will you allow the king to rule without your consent? Who are you to tell the king how he should govern you?
