factor x^3 - x^2 +x -1

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

First off, let's add parentheses. (x^3 - x^2) + (x -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What have you tried so far

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Do you know what our next step is @cl1812

OpenStudy (anonymous):

um not really? @ malcolmmcswain

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

We have to factor out x^2 from x^3-x^2. We can do that like this: x^2(x-1) +(x-1)

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

So, now that we have 2 similar terms, what do we do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it. Thanks!

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Glad to hear it! :)
