algebra
you need to set up a system of equations to represent this take the first sentence: 3D + 3P = 9 now do the same for ther second purchase...
D = cost of drink (and he buys 4) P = cost of pretzel (and he buys 2) so the sum of 4 Drinks and 2 Pretzels = 8.5 make that into an equation like the one I wrote above
im lost
i still dont know the price of 1 pretzels
That's because there is more than 1 step to solving this I cannot teach you all about equations. The first step is to write the sentence as an equation: so the sum of 4 Drinks and 2 Pretzels = 8.5 make that into an equation like the one I wrote above (using D and P) If you do this I will help furhter - if you just want th eanswer then wait
i dont know how to solve it ima wait
@MrNood
Look a\t my first answer - that shows you how to make an equation fromn th eFIRST sentencve. I am asking you to do th esame from the SECOND sentence in the same way However - I get the feeling oyu are not going to follow this through - there are a number more steps
d4 p2 =8.5
that?
that is not an equation you need a PLUS sign in it
d4+p2=8.5
OK Normally written as 4D + 2P =8.5 and I showed you that 3D + 3P = 9 so - do you know how to solve systems of wequations like this?
i never do it before
There are a number of ways - but I think th ebest way inb this case is 'elimination' This is goint to take some care and time - are you going to stick with it?
yeah i think so
so we want to 'eliminate D' - that will give you an answer for P (which is th eprice of 1 pretzel) so we need to get the SAME numer in front of D in both equations look at the equations - if oyu multiply the first by 3 then it will have 12D if you multiply th esecond by 4 then it will have 12D so start by multiplying BOTH side s of 4D + 2P =8.5 by 3
both side?
why this its so dofficult?
