OpenStudy (spanishhisory):

What was life like for women who were involved in the world war one? (open ended question, theres no choices)

OpenStudy (theatre):

the women that stayed home suffered with the families and did not have a man doing the work of making money and getting food so the women and children had to do the man's jobs and then the woman's jobs would not get done

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Women took over the jobs men had done; factory jobs, etc. This is also the time that women began helping in the war, as nurses and other jobs that didn't require first hand battle. The first world war brought attention to women they gained a lot of respect during this time.

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

You should definitely bring out the point of women taking the role of men in some job openings. Before WW1, nurses was thought to be a man's job only since they get to witness some pretty gruesome stuff. But with the war raging on and the shortage of staff, they started hiring women to fill in.
