This was my answer) Research liberal and conservative philosophies in American politics. Outline the general ideological beliefs of the two philosophies. Explain which of the American political parties support each ideology. Finally, explain how each set of beliefs influence economic policies, social welfare policies, and human rights practices. Liberal ideologies are government should take care of the people, leave no one in need, and alliviate social ills. Conservitive ideologies are personal resposability and limited government, they also believe in free market, and traditional values of Americans. On the spectrum the left (liberal) side is democratic while the right (conservitive) side is republican. Liberals believe the government should regulate the economy while conservitives believe that free market produces growth in the economy. Liberal support welfare and use it as a safty net while conservitives oppose it because they believe people shoud be self reliant. Liberals believe that the government should protect human rights while conservitives believe human rights are somthing we should handle for ourselves.

This question you should be pretty familiar with each parties beliefs. This question is asking that you tell me which party is conservative and which is liberal and because of these beliefs what each party believes about :

and my teacher said ) This is an excellent start. You have a good explanation of the general ideas behind each parties view on the different issues. I want you to work to give specific examples. For example economic policies republicans work to lower taxes and make everyone pay the same amount in taxes. Democrats believe that the rich should pay more. They work to lower the tax rate for the poor and increase the tax rate on the rich.

A specific example for human rights could be that liberals believe in the equality of marriage, while conservatives believe that marriage is only for a man and woman. In the aspects of social welfare, liberals want to help the poor with programs like food stamps and welfare to help them get back on their feet, while conservative believe that that is a waste of tax payer dollars and the poor should have to work to get back on their feet.
