Every plant from this group will have very nasty effects when eaten fresh by animals due to the very acidic taste it leaves in their mouths. Some children are told that butter comes from cows that have eaten buttercups, but this is untrue. Buttercups can be associated3 with childishness because of their simple and delicate design. In the center of a buttercup is a tiny amount of nectar for determined insects to find. With such and interesting background, it is a delight to watch each spring as these delicate flowers blossom throughout North America.
