Which equation best represents the line of best fit for the scatterplot? A) y = x + 6 B) y = 2x + 6 C) y = -x + 6 D) y = -2x + 6 http://www.usatestprep.com/modules/gallery/files/11/1188/1188.gif
What do you think the answer is?
I'll give you a hint, it's neither A nor B
What intercept do you suppose would be appropriate? What slope do you suppose would be appropriate? These are eyeball questions. Just look at the plot and shout out the answers.
um @tkhunny @mustbethestars D but i dont get how it would be negative because i see no negative numbers on the plot
So a positive slope looks like / the line goes up and a negative slope looks like \ as the line goes down. As y= mx+b where m is slope so the line looks like \, meaning it will have a negative slope however, I am more leaning towards C rather then D.
why c when theres just a -x
-x means a slope of -1. -1x is the same as -x as the 1 is not needed. But there are several points with a slope of -1 if you were to draw the line. So that is the correct answer... y = -x+6
Do you understand now?
oh ok so if i do the rise over run my answer would eventually come to -1
Yes lol. There are multiple points on the graph where is you did the slope formula it would be one. So overall your answer is C.
ok thank you
No Problem (:
