So it's asking you to add. x^2 + x - 2 + 2x - 4
Combine like terms and add/subtract them tell me what you get.
by definition, we can write this: \[\left( {f + g} \right)\left( x \right) \equiv f\left( x \right) + g\left( x \right) = \left( {{x^2} + x - 2} \right) + \left( {2x - 4} \right) = ...?\]
the answer is f(x+g) = x^2 + 3x -6
