multiply everything by 4 to get rid of fraction. on the left multiply everything inside the parenthesis by what is outside to get rid of parenthesis. put all the terms with the unknown on the left and everything else on the right. this is an equation so whatever you do to one side also do to the other to maintain the balance. divide each side by the coefficient of the unknown variable to get just 1 time the variable. the 1 is understood we don't write it. in this problem your unknown variable is C
