Need to figure out if W is a subspace of a \(M_{2 \times 2}\). If W is a subspace of \(M_{2 \times 2}\), then give a basis for W and give the dimension.

So the first one asks W is the set of all 2v2 diagonal matrices, I'm not really sure how to start this one

Take any two diagonal matrices.

If you add them, do you get another diagonal matrix ?
