What is the key to writing good songs?

My problem here is making a nice lyric to go with my random guitar riffs I come up with. I write a lot of poems too and maybe making them into song would be rad. I'm aiming towards writing hard rock. Thanks for the help.

and yes songwriting does come naturally, but it can also appear in the back of your head after a tragedy or life experiance
