OpenStudy (naveenbhatia1312):

Assuming all variables are positive, use properties of logarithms to write the expression as a sum or difference of logarithms or multiples of logarithms.

OpenStudy (naveenbhatia1312):

\[\log_{2}(x ^{2}y ^{3}/9) \]

OpenStudy (naveenbhatia1312):

i dont understand how to set it up

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You already have the rule for the log of a product. Here is the rule for a division. Rule of logarithms: \(\Large \log_b \dfrac{x}{y} = \log_b x - \log_b y\)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Treat the entire numerator as x. Then you have log of the numerator minus log of the denominator.

OpenStudy (naveenbhatia1312):

can you set it up for me?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Yes. Here is the rule for division of logs again. |dw:1453674271957:dw|
