there are 5 triangles in the upper portion and 5 in the lower portion as well , u need to do according to the diagram

Yes, @jhonyy9 method is correct. I would have to use the area of a pentagon formula instead of the area of a triangle formula.
Actually both are correct, but since they're pointing 11.7, they want you to use triangles. You'll get the same result though.
