Figure out the rate at which the jet ascends ONLY (ignore the horizontal motion).

I originally had the equation of t(h) = 250t*sin(10), but my teacher marked it wrong and wrote on my quiz that I "had to solve for t".

What I asked you to do is just an intermediate step.  The jet travels at an angle at 250 feet/sec.  You need to resolve that into two components, the vertical and the horizontal.  Time has nothing to do with that; the units of measurement are feet/sec.
