A(n) _______ is a tentative, testable statement about the natural world that is capable of being supported or refuted by scientific evidence, whereas a(n) _______ is a well-established and highly-reliable explanation of a natural phenomenon. A. hypothesis; opinion B. hypothesis; theory C. opinion; theory D. theory; hypothesis
I think the correct answer is B. My reason is because a hypothesis is: "a supposition or proposed explanation made on the basis of limited evidence as a starting point for further investigation." and a theory is: " a supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, especially one based on general principles independent of the thing to be explained."
By the way, you should have posted this under one of the Science categories (Biology, Earth Science, etc.)
