Lets start with the basics, when it says frequency, what do you think the question wants: data in decimals or integers ?
i would go B because 0.26 x 100 = 26 but at the same time i'd go C but the guy above me can explain a lot better then me ^^^
Decimal I'd assume
I will be a good person and help you with the beginning and tell you what frequency means ; frequency basically says your table will be integers, so the total numbers, this means your answer can either be B or D. So what do yout think now ?
B I think
And by looking at the percentages on the questions table we can infer it is B ( like migoz300 stated we can multiply by 100 as we have percentages) so the answer is B if you want to learn more : http://stattrek.com/statistics/two-way-table.aspx?Tutorial=AP
Thanks, I have a few more questions if you don't mind...
sure
Men and women (ages 22–40) were surveyed to choose a favorite free-time activity: playing sports, dancing, or watching movies/TV. The survey showed the following frequencies: Men—playing sports: 11; dancing: 3; watching movies/TV: 6 Women—playing sports: 5; dancing: 16; watching movies/TV: 9 Which of the following is a correct two-way frequency table for the data?
Men and Women Leisure Time Activity Preferences Playing Sports Dancing Watching movies/TV Row totals Men 0.22 0.06 0.12 0.12 Women 0.10 0.32 0.18 0.60 Column totals 0.32 0.38 0.30 1 Men and Women Leisure Time Activity Preferences Playing Sports Dancing Watching movies/TV Row totals Men 11 3 6 20 Women 5 16 9 30 Column totals 16 19 15 50 Men and Women Leisure Time Activity Preferences Playing Sports Dancing Watching movies/TV Row totals Men 0.55 0.15 0.30 1 Women 0.17 0.53 0.30 1 Column totals 0.32 0.38 0.30 1 Men and Women Leisure Time Activity Preferences Playing Sports Dancing Watching movies/TV Row totals Men 0.69 0.16 0.40 0.40 Women 0.31 0.84 0.60 0.60 Column totals 1 1 1 1
I am checking now :)
According to what I told you about frequency which one do you think the answer is ( hint it is really is) ?
Well I think it's B again, right?
Yes so basically the tbale should be integers when it says frequency and the table should be decimals when it says relative frequency
The table below shows vacation preferences of families with children under 16 and over 16: Summer vacation Camping Traveling out of state Activities in local area Row totals At least one child under 16 22 12 36 70 All children 16 or older 17 45 20 82 Column totals 39 57 56 152 Sharon mistakenly calculated the marginal relative frequency for traveling out of state to be 57 out of 100 or 57%. What should Sharon have done, and what is the correct answer? She should have divided 57 by 152: 37.5% She should have divided 12 by 57: 21% She should have divided 45 by 57: 79% She should have divided 45 by 82: 55%
The total of the whole thing is 152 and the total of traveling out of state is 57, so the answer would be dividing 57 by 152 and getting the probability of 37.5%
I though it was A too! Thank you for your help!
