I need help with this dimensional analysis problem, I've been working on it for days and just can't figure out how to work it out. Please somebody help me figure out how to do this. Approximately how many dollars worth of pennies would you need to place side by side to cover a total distance of one mile? (diameter of a penny = 1.9cm)
how much is a mile the multiply it by 1.9 cm
I have to figure it out using dimensional analysis and showing my work. I already know the answer, I just have no clue how to set the problem up. I've tried so many different ways and keep failing.
1.9cm (2.54cm / 1 in) (12in / 1ft) (5280 ft / 1mi)
thats how I'm trying to set it up, but I'm not getting the correct answer, and I'm not sure how to convert it to dollars worth of pennies, i'm doing something wrong
ohh hang on
Please show what you've done so far, so that others could give you meaningful feedback. Basically, you'll need to come up with several conversion factors and apply them.
r u talking to me sir
i tried showing my work above
thats the way i am trying to set it up, so that it converts the centimeters to miles, but i'm doing something wrong, and I don't understand how to add into the conversion the amount of dollars worth of pennies I will end up with
i have it setup so that cm will cancel out and convert to inches, then inches will cancel out and convert to feet, and then feet will cancel out to convert to miles
