OpenStudy (annie12m):

Can someone teach me how to write decimals into a percentage? I'll medal!

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@Mehek14 @retirEEd @ScarlettFarra2000 @truwhovian11

OpenStudy (annie12m):

so what do you think @PicklePlanet

This process is actually easy! An easy way to multiply a decimal by 100 is to move the decimal point two places to the right. Here's an example. Let's say we have the decimal 0.63. If we multiply 0.63 by 100, we'd get 63. Now, just move the decimal over 2 spaces and add a % sign. Now, we have 63%. See, it's really simple! You can do this with any decimal. And if that doesn't make sense to you, just think of it this way. Hope I helped! If not, just tell me and I will try to explain it more.

OpenStudy (annie12m):

oh wow ok ty!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Need more examples? Here's some. 4.45 = 445% 0.35 = 35% 6.97 = 697%

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hope I helped you out! :D

OpenStudy (annie12m):

so litterly just moving the decimal over and adding the sign wow thats so easy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True! If you need any more help, just tag me in your question and I will be right on it! Good luck in math!

OpenStudy (annie12m):

hey @PicklePlanet do you know how to do this? What is 1.05% written as a decimal?

OpenStudy (annie12m):

do you move the decimal to the left 2 times? to get 0.0105?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! Just hold on...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To find out how to turn a fraction into a decimal, write down the percent divided by 100. Let's say we have the percent 1.05. First, we divide 1.05% by 100, which equals 0.0105. So yes, you're correct.

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ok ty!

OpenStudy (annie12m):

do you know how to turn a fraction into a percentage? do you first turn the fraction 5/16 into a decimal by taking the top number then dividing the bottom number to get 0.375 then to get the percentage you move the decimal to the right 2 times to get 37.5 for your percentage

OpenStudy (annie12m):

@PicklePlanet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To convert fractions to percents, all you need to do is divide the top of the fraction by the bottom, multiply by 100 and add a "%" sign. Alright let's say we had the fraction 2/5. To turn that into a percent, we need to divide 2 by 5, which equals 0.4. Now, we multiply by 100, which equals 40. Therefore, 2/5 = 40%.

OpenStudy (annie12m):

ok ty so i did do it correctly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, if you turned 5/16 into a percent, you'd have to divide 5 to 16, which equals 0.3125. Then, we will multiply 0.3125 by 100, getting 31.25%. Your answer 37.5%, so you were close, but not quite right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But don't worry, you'll get the hang of it!
