@jabez177

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i believe it is

jabez177 (jabez177):

Yeah, that sounds right to me. :)

OpenStudy (rose4825):

I would be C, because at this statue was created to represent Jesus, like @Joshua_S said. For example, The Rome Pieta is an emotionally charged incarnation of a mother cradling her lifeless son. It is an almost universally loved portrayal of the Virgin and Christ. His sculptures were made to represent the Renaissance time, where the church held most of the power, at most times. Your picture: The Deposition (also called the Florence Pietà or The Lamentation over the Dead Christ) is a marble sculpture by the Italian High Renaissance master Michelangelo. The sculpture, on which Michelangelo worked between 1547 and 1553, depicts four figures: the dead body of Jesus Christ, newly taken down from the Cross, Nicodemus (or possibly Joseph of Arimathea), Mary Magdalene and the Virgin Mary. The sculpture is housed in the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo in Florence.

OpenStudy (rose4825):

Hope that clears any confusion you had :)
