Which is the equation of the given line in slope-form? A) y+4=9/8(x+1) B) y+1=8/9(x+4) C) y+1=8/7(x+4) D) y-1=8/9(x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (priyar):

do u know how to find slope?

OpenStudy (priyar):

in the graph u have 2 points..with that u can find the slope..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the slope is 6/9

OpenStudy (priyar):

no..check the numerator again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I keep getting y - 1 = (6/9)(x + 4) which is none of the answer choices >:(

OpenStudy (priyar):

\[\frac{ 3-(-1) }{ 1/2-(-4) }\]

OpenStudy (priyar):

what will u get on simplification

OpenStudy (priyar):

@jinxhead20 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im here hold on...

OpenStudy (priyar):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 8/9 o-o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@priyar ????

OpenStudy (priyar):

8/9 is correct..now u know the slope..so write in one-point and slope form

OpenStudy (priyar):

so.. what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on...

OpenStudy (priyar):

@jinxhead20 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok tbh i have no idea what to do now..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think the answer is b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@priyar

OpenStudy (priyar):

one point and slope form is nothing but what used the first time when u got slope=6/9

OpenStudy (priyar):

its (y-y1)=m(x-x1)

OpenStudy (priyar):

here (x1,y1) is any of the two points..choose any one and substitute ..

OpenStudy (priyar):

we will choose (-4,-1) so we will get (y-(-1))=8/9 (x-(-4)) simplify this..

OpenStudy (priyar):

@jinxhead20 can u do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry for being stupid. I hate math.

OpenStudy (priyar):

its ok..math is a nice subject..take your time to understand it..only if u understand you will enjoy it..

OpenStudy (priyar):

so..what do u get ? which option is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d....

OpenStudy (priyar):

no..check again remember -(-1) is +1

OpenStudy (priyar):

can u pls be a bit faster..

OpenStudy (priyar):

@jinxhead20 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok b! It is the only other answer with the 8/9 slope. IDK

OpenStudy (priyar):

you are correct! but u understood how the full eq came right?

OpenStudy (priyar):

-*- = +

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :)

OpenStudy (priyar):

ok.. u r welcome!
