HELP!! Will medal and Fan!!!!! PLEASE!!!

OpenStudy (hunter68):

Joyce is trying to solve the equation y = x2 − 8x + 7 using the quadratic formula. She has made an error in one of the steps below. Find the step where Joyce went wrong. Step 1: x equals negative 8 plus or minus the square root of the quantity eight squared minus four times one times seven, end quantity, all over two times one. Step 2: x equals negative 8 plus or minus the square root of sixty-four minus twenty-eight all over two times one. Step 3: x equals negative 8 plus or minus the square root of thirty-six all over two times one. Step 4: x equals negative 8 plus or minus six all over two. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4

OpenStudy (hunter68):

thought it was A but its not

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@NatsuOniKaze @CandyCove

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@soprano.h.d0816 @pizza12

OpenStudy (myles23):

l

OpenStudy (hunter68):

what is that? i said it was D not A and got it wrong...

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@AloneS

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

I believe it is Step 1

OpenStudy (hunter68):

ok next one? i have 7

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@airjordan200

OpenStudy (hunter68):

Decide which part of the quadratic formula tells you whether the quadratic equation can be solved by factoring. −b b2 − 4ac 2a Use the part of the quadratic formula that you chose above and find its value, given the following quadratic equation: 2x2 + 7x + 3 = 0

OpenStudy (hunter68):

this is the next one...

OpenStudy (hunter68):

its a fill in the number i thought it was 0 but its not

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@CandyCove

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@ilovehorses14

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

I believe it's 1

OpenStudy (hunter68):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (hunter68):

How can you tell when a quadratic equation has no real solutions? When the radicand is negative When b in the quadratic formula is greater than the radicand When the radicand equals zero When the radicand is not a perfect square

OpenStudy (hunter68):

thought it was a but nope

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@PhantomCrow

OpenStudy (phantomcrow):

If the number under the square root is negative.

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

sooo before that one the other one that one was a=2 b=7 c=3

OpenStudy (phantomcrow):

Since square roots of negative numbers cannot real numbers

OpenStudy (hunter68):

ok thanks and what do you mean @PhantomCrow

OpenStudy (hunter68):

so its C?

OpenStudy (phantomcrow):

If you think about it, a square root is basically asking what two same numbers multiply to give you what is being rooted. You cannot multiply two same numbers and receive a negative number.

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

When the radicand is not a perfect square

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

It's D

OpenStudy (hunter68):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (ilovehorses14):

ima o wit that to

OpenStudy (hunter68):

What are the approximate solutions of 4x2 + 3 = −12x to the nearest hundredth? x ≈ −3.23 and x ≈ 0.23 x ≈ −2.72 and x ≈ −0.28 x ≈ 0.28 and x ≈ 2.72 x ≈ −0.23 and x ≈ 3.23

OpenStudy (phantomcrow):

It isnt D.

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i thought this was a but its not

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i said c

OpenStudy (phantomcrow):

Its A

OpenStudy (hunter68):

last one?

OpenStudy (hunter68):

can you help me with this one?

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

ok

OpenStudy (hunter68):

What are the approximate solutions of 4x2 + 3 = −12x to the nearest hundredth? x ≈ −3.23 and x ≈ 0.23 x ≈ −2.72 and x ≈ −0.28 x ≈ 0.28 and x ≈ 2.72 x ≈ −0.23 and x ≈ 3.23

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i reput it its not a

OpenStudy (hunter68):

thats what i said and i got it wrong

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@PhantomCrow u there? @airjordan200

OpenStudy (hunter68):

Solve: 5x2 + 25x = 0. x = 0, x = 5 x = 0, x = −5 x = −5, x = 0, x = 5 x = 5, x = 25

OpenStudy (hunter68):

what about this one?

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i said a but nope

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

sorry im busy but i can help u

OpenStudy (hunter68):

What are the exact solutions of x2 = 5x + 2? x = x equals 5 plus or minus the square root of thirty-three all over 2 x = x equals negative 5 plus or minus the square root of thirty-three all over 2 x = x equals 5 plus or minus the square root of seventeen all over 2 x = x equals negative 5 plus or minus the square root of seventeen all over 2

OpenStudy (hunter68):

help me with these three please and than there is one more

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@airjordan200

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

ok

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i said all of these were a

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

x=-2/3

OpenStudy (hunter68):

where did u get that from?

OpenStudy (hunter68):

Solve: 16x2 − 81 = 0. x = 4, 9 x = −4, −9 x = 9 over 4, x = −9 over 4 x = 81 over 16, x = −81 over 16

OpenStudy (hunter68):

these are the last 4 please help me

OpenStudy (hunter68):

help?

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@sws_pvt

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

what does it mean when you say 16x2? Are you supposed to multiply those?

OpenStudy (hunter68):

16x^2

OpenStudy (hunter68):

@sws_pvt i have 4 more please

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

no its not its the value x

OpenStudy (hunter68):

im confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whats goin on?

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i need help with these last 4 problems...

OpenStudy (soprano.h.d0816):

256x-81=0 256x=81 x= 3.1604 For your last question

OpenStudy (hunter68):

i give up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont give up

OpenStudy (airjordan200):

(4x+9)(4x-9)=0 x= +/- (9/4) . . . 6x - 2 = x^2 0=x^2-6x+2 0=x^2-6x+9+2-9 7=(x-3)^2 +-sqrt(7)=x-3 3%2B-sqrt%287%29=x . . . 8x + 4 = 2x^2 0=2x^2-8x-4
