Some one please help!! Solving systems using substitution

OpenStudy (xhawaiiangirlx):

okay i will help u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X=-y+3 2x-y=0

This question is confusing me n i dont understand it

OpenStudy (xhawaiiangirlx):

okay well lets break it down for u

OpenStudy (xhawaiiangirlx):

/| x+y-3 = 0| 2*x-y = 0 We try to solve the equation: x+y-3 = 0 x+y-3 = 0 // - x-3 y = -(x-3) y = 3-x We insert the solution into one of the initial equations of our system of equations We get a system of equations: /| 2*x+x-3 = 0| y = 3-x 3*x-3 = 0 // + 3 3*x = 3 // : 3 x = 3/3 x = 1 We insert the solution into one of the initial equations of our system of equations For y = 3-x: y = 3-1 y = 2 We get a system of equations: /| y = 2| x = 1
