I WILL Give MEDALLLLs!!!!!! ~Black History Essay~
2016 Black History information to assist in responding to the prompt: The history of African Americans unfolds across the canvas of America, beginning before the arrival of the Mayflower and continuing to the present. From port cities where Africans disembarked from slave ships to the battle fields where their descendants fought for freedom, from the colleges and universities where they pursued education to places where they created communities during centuries of migration, the imprint of Americans of African descent is deeply embedded in the narrative of the American past. These sites prompt us to remember and over time became hallowed grounds. The hallowed grounds of Miami’s local history landmarks such as D.A. Dorsey’s home in Overtown, on 9th Street and 2nd Avenue in Miami and Virginia Key Beach in Key Biscayne tell the story of our struggle for equal citizenship. The imprint of Americans of African descent is deeply embedded in the narrative of Miami’s past. BLACK HISTORY PROMPT: As an activist that recognizes the power of knowledge to bring change within our youth, write to convince your reader why it’s important for young people to know and tell the history of the struggle of the past and how this knowledge can be used to address your community concerns. Cite specific evidence; include details to support your conclusion.

Sure
One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.”– Simone de Beauvoir. If you assumed this quote is from a female you are absolutely right. Being called a woman is always frowned upon in a “man’s world”. Imagine being a black female, it’s opposed by society erupting low self-esteem and no confidence Not necessarily all females but the ones in a historical landmarks called “Miami Women's Club” and “Woman's Club of Coconut Grove”. On the other hand, these historical landmarks only consisted of white females that’s where I’m stuck on realizing that black females are not even given a historical landmark. For starters, African American girls aren’t given the foundation to become woman. Black history usually consist of the regular –Martin Luther King, Booker T. Washington, and Frederick Douglass. Female leaders of the past such as Mary McLeod Bethune left a legacy that will support black females as a whole. “The Council House was the first headquarters of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and was Bethune’s last home in Washington, DC. From here, Bethune and the NCNW spearheaded strategies and developed programs that advanced the interests of African American women.” I had to thoroughly look for a club for black females but as soon as I research “African American female landmarks in Miami or Miami’s local history landmarks,” the results consisted of woman clubs so I was filled with glee. I did more and more research on these female clubs and learned they only contained white females I felt dumbstruck and I was overwhelmed with confusion. I’m here to talk about black females as a whole and give them the credit they rarely get rewarded with. I’m all for females and gender equality and freedom of all colors. This is why I am stunned to find out black females have little to no modern idols.
lol it was a planning thingy

I didn't hear where there needed to be any, so I would say no corrections.
