OpenStudy (alyssakin):

How fast would a 0.25 kg football have to be traveling to have the same momentum as a 0.05 kg bullet travelling 500 m/s?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay a physics question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok are you farmiliar with the equation for force?

OpenStudy (alyssakin):

I am, I just forget alot of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh nvm its simpler than that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

momentum, or p is the energy stored in an object when its moving

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know how a truck traveling the same speed as a baseball will hit alot harder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well thats becuase of momentum, which is: p=m*v

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or momentum=mass*velocity

OpenStudy (alyssakin):

ohh okay, thank you. I think I struggle with the formulas more than anything.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well be sure that you also start off by organizing your problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

everytime i start a problem i write all my knowns, Mf=0.25 kg Mb=0.05 kg vb= 500m/s and vf=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but do understand how to find it now that i gave you the formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would print out a formula sheet too

OpenStudy (alyssakin):

okay, thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Np have a good night if you have any other physics questions feel free to ask I am in AP physics 1+2 atm so i would love to help

OpenStudy (alyssakin):

will do!
