ΔABC with vertices A(−1,2), B(−2,5),C(−3,3) is translated 4 units to the left and 3 units down. Is ΔABC a right triangle?
@bmora007: Please do not hand out answers. Please involve the other person and let that person arrive at his or her own answers with your guidance. Thank you.
Translating the triangle to a different location on the coordinate axes won't change its shape. Ignore the translation; concentrate on the three points given. You might want to sketch the triangle defined by those points. How would you determine whether this triangle is a right triangle or not?
A right triangle is created by two perpendicular lines. If you graph the triangle and find the slope of each line, then if there are two perpendicular lines, then yes it is a right triangle.
thank you!
