A linear system can have exactly three different solutions. true or false and why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A linear equation in two variables represents a straight line. Two straight lines can intersect only at one point and so, there can be one solution only for two linear equations. However if the lines are parallel, no solution can be found.

All linear systems must have no solution, one solution, or infinitely many solutions. Think about it geometrically; 2 lines can either intersect at one point (one solution), not intersect (no solution), or be the same line (infinitely many solutions). 2 lines cannot intersect at exactly 2 points.
