OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Identify the active site of the scissors enzyme, its substrate, and the chemical reaction it catalyzes. WILL GIVE 2 MEDALS!!!

OpenStudy (somy):

How much do you know about enzymes to begin with?

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

I know that enzymes are catalysts in living things. Enzymes help speed up biochemical reactions.

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

So what do you think it is?

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Restriction enzymes are molecular scissors that cut DNA into pieces.

OpenStudy (somy):

okay so this question is asking you to identify stuff where is the figure?

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

What figure are you talking about?

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Anyways can you just help me? Please

OpenStudy (somy):

i was assuming you have a picture with this question

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

No. Sorry there is no picture. Oh well. I got the answer anyways thank you.

OpenStudy (somy):

alright then you already said what scissors enzyme is and what its substrate is

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Yes. I just need the chemical reaction.

OpenStudy (somy):

there are different ways to cut one of the ways is hydrolysis

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Okay. Is that the chemical reaction though?

OpenStudy (somy):

its depends on which enzyme is doing the cleavage job hydrolysis is a type of chemical reaction which involved water to break down something so if you want to go down to chemistry basics, you could say decomposition using water. In biology we have different ways to name the reactions

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Okay thank you for all your help. I will now give you your 2 medals.

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Bye!!!!

OpenStudy (somy):

np

OpenStudy (chillydog0):

Hope you will help me when I am in a pinch again.

OpenStudy (somy):

will do if i can :)
