The photograph below shows a bouncing ball in front of an illuminated grid. The heights of the ball's bounces make a geometric sequence. What will the height of the next bounce be?
A. 0.2352 m
B. 0.1764 m
C. 0.26724 m

could u help a brotha out?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes i am thinking this is like i have to predict it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
since this is a geometric sequence each term is being multiplied by the same number to get to the next one. Find the r in this equation
1.2r = 0.84
Then multiply it by 0.4116 to get the next height

is what i read somewhere. but i dont understand it
OpenStudy (tkhunny):
Have you considered finding the ratio of the successive bounces?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
i think it is D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
explain?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
because if the ball firsts falls 4 cubes down then three then two then 1 understand
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ohh yea, i feel u
