these two angles follow which property?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Im not really sure
OpenStudy (priyar):
they are "SUPPLEMENTARY ANGLES"
OpenStudy (priyar):
coz they are interior angles bet. 2 parallel lines

u know what is supplementary..?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
not really, we just started this unit
OpenStudy (priyar):
ok..
OpenStudy (xmissalycatx):
Supplementary means that the angles are equal to 180 degrees.
OpenStudy (priyar):
supplementary angles means their sum must be 180degrees

ooooh okay that makes sense
OpenStudy (priyar):
so add the two angles and equate them to 180
OpenStudy (priyar):
solve that eq to get the value of x
OpenStudy (priyar):
so what do u get?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
hang on I need a minute please, do I make an equation like this: 20x+5=24x-1? @priyar

OpenStudy (priyar):
no..where have u used the property we just discussed?
OpenStudy (priyar):
add the angles ang equate to "180" coz they are supplementary..ok?
OpenStudy (priyar):
*and
OpenStudy (anonymous):
supplementary? Im a little confused, can you kind of show me what you mean? @priyar
OpenStudy (priyar):
did u understand the meaning of supplementary..?

yeah that one part I understand, the angles have to equal 180, like on a triangle
OpenStudy (priyar):
u mean.. the "sum" of the angles have to be equal to 180..right? coz the word "sum" is very important
OpenStudy (priyar):
sum means addition
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I know that part too, I just dont know what to do with the information
OpenStudy (priyar):
if i say A and B are supplementary..then,
A+B=180

where A and B are supplementary angles
OpenStudy (priyar):
good so far?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yep, carry on :)
OpenStudy (priyar):
here also we have A and B..what are they here?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
20x and 24x?

OpenStudy (priyar):
tell me the "full" angles..u r telling only the x-part..why?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so 20x+5 and 24x-1? I just didnt know if i was supposed to say the whole thing
OpenStudy (priyar):
good..and now u know right..the full expression stands for the angles not just x part
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay, so far so good
OpenStudy (priyar):
great! now we have our A and B so what must we do with it..see above

@Bissi52802 ?
OpenStudy (priyar):
pls respond
OpenStudy (priyar):
A+B=180
similarly 20x+5+24x-1=180
now just solve for x
OpenStudy (priyar):
@Bissi52802 ???
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Im really sorry I was just told that my cat was ran over
thank you for your help
