When you take notes during reading, what should you be trying to do?

OpenStudy (ikitlen):

Are there any choices? (A, B, C, D)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"When you take notes during reading.. answer questions and make connections - If there is review questions in your reading (like a textbook), this would probably be your choice. However if there isn't, then this would not make sense whatsoever. copy each line of the story word for word - No, you should never do this. This right here would basically be plagiarizing anyways and not to mention, it doesn't really help you remember things. If you're jotting down notes, you want to reword it in your own words. write a mini-essay that argues your point - No. prove that you have completed your reading - Yes. This would be a good idea and if one way of proving it is rewriting it in your own words as mentioned before, then 100% yes."
