A rectangular prism is 7.1 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 10 inches high. What is te volume of the rectangular prism?
Please help!
Do you know the equation for volume of a rectangular prism (box)?
Yes base times height
Yes and you are given the dimensions of the base 7.1 in. long by 4 in. wide, so what is the area of the base?
28.4
Looks like that is correct, now multiply that base by 10 and you will have solved for volume using your equation base times height.
Joclyn16 Yes base times height but what does "base" mean here? You are given three dimensions. Be sure you use all three in calculating the volume.
Just tell me the answer
do the multiplication and you tell me the answer.
Multiply them all?
In effect yes....... but you already have multiplied the 7.1 times 4 getting 28.4 So all that is left, multiply by the height (10)
Ok thanks
No problem, but let me see your final answer......inquiring minds want to know!
284
And what would the units of measurement be in your final answer?
Yes that is correct and it is your answer, not mine lol.
Also, get the units as posted by mathmale. They will be "cubic" something!.
Good luck with your studies.
