What is the mean of variable B? Express answer to one decimal place. https://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1547500_1548000/1547924/2/5d0af896b882a094ffe657308d626d6fc7220429/MS_IMC-1401006-100876.jpg

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

oh easy.

OpenStudy (safa102):

-.-

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Okay, first list all the points in the graph

OpenStudy (safa102):

lol yeah it looked easy i just got confused how i put it in decimal form?

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

what are your options?

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

PS. Don't be rude @UsernameNotTaken Just cause it is easy to you doesn't mean everyone is supposed to know how to do it

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

im not being rude, shes my friend, i have helped her before m80 @StudyGurl14

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

:D

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

k

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

So safa, what do you know about finding the mean?

OpenStudy (safa102):

1,8 2.3 4,2 4,6 5,2 6,1 7,3 9,5

OpenStudy (safa102):

those are the points on the graph

OpenStudy (safa102):

isn't the mean.....the most used number?

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

no, that would be mode. Mean is the average of the numbers. To find the mean, add up all the numbers, then divide by how many numbers there are

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

:D

OpenStudy (safa102):

oh ok hold on!

OpenStudy (safa102):

ok i added all of them up and than divided so i did all those numbers divided by 16 and got 4.25

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

so, not quite.. but ur getting close. Just to clear some things up, why did you divide by 16?

OpenStudy (safa102):

and the question was to move it to one decimal place......so i think it would be 4.2 or no?

OpenStudy (safa102):

cuz there were 16 numbers total!

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

Well I could be wrong, but it is asking for the mean of Variable B, yet you took in consideration both B and A (they are both different values)

OpenStudy (safa102):

ohhh!!

OpenStudy (safa102):

oh so variable b numbers are 8,6,5,3,3, 2,2,1 so do i add those up?

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

yup! then divide by 8

OpenStudy (safa102):

oh ok!

OpenStudy (safa102):

ok i got 3.75

OpenStudy (safa102):

it said to move it to one decimal place......so would it be 3.7?

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

*applauds* i really hope its the right answer or i will be very embarrassed xD. yup, and unless ur teacher is picky about rounding numbers, 3.7 is fine

OpenStudy (safa102):

lol *takes bow* i hope its right.....and your the smartest person on here so i think i got it right! :)

OpenStudy (safa102):

i'll let u know how i did!

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

Ok! great thx!

OpenStudy (safa102):

Thanks you so much for helping me. Here's your medal!

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

:D

OpenStudy (safa102):

:)

OpenStudy (safa102):

can u tell me what the median is???

OpenStudy (safa102):

sorry i keep bothering you! :(

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

median is when you organize the numbers from least to greatest and the number in the MIDDLE is the median! *TIP* google helps

OpenStudy (safa102):

oh yeah lol sorry! thanks

OpenStudy (usernamenottaken):

YUP!
